Mira

How it works

  1. 1

    Starting goal

Mira uses resting energy from the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, your activity level and your chosen pace.

  2. 2

    Food and weight entries

Adjustments need at least 14 days of history, 10 fully logged days and 4 weigh-ins.

  3. 3

    Weekly adjustments

Mira gradually changes the goal based on logged food and your weight trend.

Small, steady steps

A weekly change is capped at 100 kcal at first, so the goal never jumps around.

Limits on the calculation

The pace is capped at 1% of body weight a week, the deficit at 25%, and a minimum calorie limit applies.

Independent of workout estimates

Adjustments use logged food and your weight trend, rather than calorie burn estimated by a watch.

You stay in charge

Prefer a fixed number? Set your goal by hand and Mira leaves it alone.

Questions

Why does my goal change?

Your starting goal is an estimate from a formula. Once you have enough food and weight entries, Mira adjusts it based on your weight trend.

Is it free?

Yes, the adaptive goal is part of the free app.

When does it start adapting?

After at least 14 days have passed and you have 10 fully logged days and 4 weigh-ins.
